The history of Allianz in Turkey goes way back to 1923, and its presence back to 1988. Şark Sigorta, founded by Italian insurance company Riunione Adriatica Di Sicurta on September 1, 1923 entered among Koç Group of Companies at the end of the 51st year after its establishment.

In 1988, Allianz partnered with Şark Sigorta together with the Japanese Tokio Marine insurance company. In 1991, Şark Hayat Sigorta is founded. In 1998, the two companies changed their names as Koç Allianz Sigorta and Koç Allianz Hayat Sigorta respectively and started operating under Allianz Sigorta and Allianz Hayat ve Emeklilik business titles upon takeover of Koç shares by Allianz in 2008. Allianz Group made a new investment in Turkey in 2013 by acquiring Yapı Kredi Sigorta and Yapı Kredi Emeklilik. In October 2013, Yapı Kredi Emeklilik is renamed as Allianz Yaşam ve Emeklilik. In 2014, merging of Allianz Sigorta and Yapı Kredi Sigorta is completed and elemental insurance operations are gathered under Allianz Sigorta roof.

Investments of Allianz Turkey, leader of insurance industry and a powerful financial institution, were not limited only with the foregoing. In 2015, Allianz Turkey moved its head office to Allianz Tower in Istanbul and in 2016 made a decision to make regional investments. Investments by Allianz Group in Turkey since 2008 have reached up to 3.5 billion Turkish Liras with Allianz Campus, the operation center to be opened in İzmir.

Industry Leader - Having completed 2017 as the leader of insurance market, Allianz Turkey`s premium and contribution share production in Q1 2018 is realized as 5.2 billion TR, contributing to 480 million TRY of profit according to the consolidated figures of the first three companies. Allianz Turkey protected its market leader position by achieving 2.9 billion TRY premium production and 12.0 percent market share in non-life segments.  Allianz Turkey achieved 11 percent market share by growing 29.3 percent with 432 million TRY premium production in life segment and 16.2 percent market share by growing 16.4 percent with 1.17 million participants and 13.6 billion TRY fund amount in private pension segment.
